NSAID gel can reduce lace bite pain

Between skates, applying topical Voltaren can help reduce pain from lace bite.

Voltaren, aka  diclofenac, is a topical gel commonly used to manage arthritis pain. It’s an NSAID (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug), which reduces substances in the body that can cause inflammation. Remember, lace bite is caused by inflammation to the tendon that runs through the top of your foot and ankle.

Voltaren is a generic medication, and it’s relatively cheap to buy the generic version on Amazon or at your local drug store.

I used this medication regularly to control my pain from lace bite. Then, once I was skating pain free, I gradually reduced my usage. I’ve completely phased it out now and am still skating pain free.

Of course, consult your physician if you have any concerns about using a medication.
